I Am...

This is the most important aspect of my story and it's best that I lead with this truth from the very beginning. Before you learn that I am a father, a son, a grandson, a brother, a nephew, a cousin, an uncle and a friend and even still before anyone else conveys the countless times that I have been subjected to gross violations of my civil rights, I want you to first realize that at the core of this entire story is the fact that I did not commit the acts for which I have been falsely accused - of this fact I have never wavered. For this and many other reasons, I place my faith in God and I trust my family to lead the charge in sharing my story and telling you who I really am.

I Am...

A Family's Love 

As the oldest of six children, Maeceo is the quintessential big brother. Growing up, his siblings looked up to him and he looked after them. Although his childhood wasn't always easy, the smile that held so much promise was a gateway to the goodness that was at his very core. His positive outlook and beautiful spirit is still very much a part of him, no matter what he has endured throughout his life. The love for his family and his family's love for him is the driving force to keep pushing the truth to the light.

A Family's Promise

His family didn't post bail when Maeceo was picked up for substance abuse in April 2006. They didn't have the money. Naively they thought that since it was such a minor infraction, they could simply await his hearing and everything would essentially work itself out.

​Had they known that while awaiting a court date, Maeceo would become the scapegoat for an incident for which he wasn't a participant, they would have done more to raise the necessary funds to post bail.

By not posting bail, his family unwittingly left the door open for more evil than they could have ever imagined. It is for this reason, they have promised to be Maeceo's voice and the voice for other families whose loved ones are incarcerated and facing gross injustice.

A Family's Mission

Maeceo is not forgotten. He is thought about, prayed for, and advocated incessantly. His humble courage and faith in the face of incredible adversity has spurred his family into action. He hasn't given up and therefore they refuse to give up the fight for justice as well. Realizing that this is so much bigger than Maeceo, a platform was created to give other incarcerated men and women the much needed opportunity to share their story in their own words as well. Please help to let them know that they are not forgotten.
